Franz Borghese is born in Rome on 21st January 1941. He carries out his studies at Artistic High School of Via Ripetta. Here there are many important teachers as Domenico Purificato, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Umberto Maganzini and Giulio Turcato.
He is an expert of human typologies, attentive viewer of different ethical and behavioral features belonging to middle class. The artist does not ignore his intense social life and he realizes interesting working relationships and friendships with artists and intellectuals. He meets Ugo Attardi, Ennio Calabria, Salvatore Fiume, Mino Maccari and other considerable artists.
In a first period, Franz Borghese uses a painting dramatic expression characterized by dark and deep tones. Later, since early 70s, he arrives at iconographic formula that starts a series powered by sarcastic and unlimited satirical nourishment. This series has stylistic references with characters and typical pictures of Tenths and the critics’ notices parallelism and connections with historical expressionism of Grosz and Dix and Ensor’s painting, Maccari, Hoerle. It causes risky arguments.
Franz Borghese’s Works are exhibited in a lot of important art galleries, national and international fairs.
He dies in Rome on 16th December 2005.
